Sheffield candidates – general election 2017

Ian Walker- Sheffield Hallam

I am the one candidate whose views will actually have influence on the government for the benefit of Sheffield.

I was born and bred in Hallam and spent most of my working life running exporting manufacturing companies in Sheffield.

My wife and I brought up our four children in Hallam making me very familiar with our local schools and hospitals! I have a heart for our city and I have always tried to give something back to the community.

I have been:

- A director of Sheffield Health Authority and NHS North of England, when I focussed on reducing health inequalities across the city.

- Chairman of Sheffield’s Training and Enterprise Council, driving the bid to secure £2.4bn of new funding to improve communities and support apprentices and manufacturing industry in South Yorkshire.

- A governor of a local school.

In this critical phase of getting the best possible Brexit trade deal, my manufacturing and exporting experience and my passion for the prosperous future of our city makes me the right person to represent Hallam at Westminster.

Vote for representation by a LOCAL person with a heart for our city, whose views will actually be listened to by the government.

Michael Naughton-  Brightside & Hillsborough

I was born and raised in Sheffield. I grew up in a mining village, went to a local comprehensive school and graduated from Sheffield University. Sheffield is my home, and I care about our city and our people. As a youth group leader, volunteer, and fundraiser, I have worked to make things better on a local level. I seek now to be a strong local voice to stand up for our city at a key moment in our country’s history.

Last summer we took a momentous decision. If Theresa May wins this election, we will leave the EU and regain control of our borders and our country in March 2019. The best way to help her get the greatest possible deal for Britain is to give her the strongest possible mandate going into the negotiation process. A clear result in her favour will demonstrate to Brussels that Brexit will be crisp, clean - and successful.

We now need strong and capable leadership. Theresa May will deliver that. A coalition of chaos will not. I am standing to support Mrs May to get the best deal for Brightside and Hillsborough, for Sheffield, and for Britain.

Lindsey Cawrey- Sheffield South East

Lindsey was born in Sheffield and her extended family still live in the city.

She spent her early childhood in Sheffield before her father’s job in agricultural engineering took the family to Derbyshire and then to Lincolnshire.

Lindsey has been actively involved in politics since 2001. She is a member of Lincolnshire County Council with many years’ experience as vice chairman and chairman of Scrutiny. She is also an Executive member of North Kesteven District Council, overseeing multi million pound investments in sport and leisure facilities.

From 2013 to 2014 she was Deputy Chairman Political for Lincoln Conservative Association.

Lindsey has been self-employed for the past four years following a career in publishing and marketing spanning the public and private sectors. She has worked in defence, house building and agricultural open learning as well as with some of the biggest names in the UK’s music industry.

Alongside Lindsey’s professional commitments, Lindsey is also a keen volunteer and supports the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust, helping the at live events and providing stewarding support at the Lincoln 10k. She has also worked with a charity which supports young people who have offended or who are at risk of offending.

Dr Gordon Gregory- Sheffield Heeley

Dr. Gordon Christopher Gregory, MB,ChB (Sheffield) MSc (London) MRCS (Edinburgh)  your Conservative candidate.

I am a local NHS doctor trained at Sheffield University.

I am married with three children.  The two eldest attend a local Comprehensive school.

I supported the fight for Brexit in Sheffield and now wish to help Theresa May get the best deal she can for Britain.

I have worked at both the Royal Hallamshire and the Northern General Hospitals so I understand the NHS at first hand.  I know it is safer in the hands of Theresa May and the Conservative Party, whatever others may say.

I am committed to supporting our Armed Services and our ex-servicemen, especially those with mental and employment issues.

I am committed to improving the lives of the people of Sheffield which has been me and my family's home for the last 16 years.

Sheffield is known as the greenest city in the UK.  I have fought to keep our parks, trees and green spaces that have been under threat from the Labour council.

This election is unique.  It is our generation’s Battle of Britain.  Whatever you’ve done in the past, vote Conservative this time so that Theresa May has the strongest support possible in her negotiations with the EU.  The EU is failing and we have got out just in time.  We now need to get the best deal we can for our country.

Doctor Gregory - your Conservative Candidate.
